Interview with Satoko Kishimoto, campaigner, on remunicipalisation, PPPs and the values of public services

Reclaiming public services. How cities and citizens are turning back privatization - excerpt graph

(29 March 2018) EPSU and affiliates contributed to the book Reclaiming public services. How cities and citizens are turning back privatization. It includes several examples of unions that campaigned for a return of services to public ownership. We worked closely with campaigner and editor Satoko Kishimoto of Transnational Institute (TNI). She was recently interviewed by one of our Belgian affiliates. The interview addresses the recent campaigns and successes of remunicipalisation as well as the problems with Public Private Partnerships (PPPs). These problems have most recently been addressed by the European Court of Auditors and caught European attention with the collapse of Carillion, a large provider of privatized public services.  The interview is like a summary of the book and she underlines the many reasons to go public.
