EPSU and EWC stand up for Bulgarian trade union leader

(6 November 2014) A local trade union leader has been dismissed in the Bulgarian branch of CEZ. He lead demonstrations against the loss of jobs in the Varna power plant, owned by the Czech state-owned company CEZ.

As there are many reasons to believe that he has been sacked from his job because of his trade union activities EPSU and the European Works Council chair have written to management to reinstate our colleague.

Attacking trade union leaders for carrying out their duties as workers' representatives is a violation of conventions of the ILO and the European Social Charter.
