EPSU welcomes the new UN special rapporteur on the Human Right to Water

Pedro Arrojo-Agudo UN special rapporteur on the Human Right to Water

(8 October 2020) The UN Human Rights Council approved the appointment of Pedro Arrojo-Agudo as Special Rapporteur for the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation. Pedro was a member of the Citizens Committee of the European Citizens Initiative on the Human Right to Water at its session 7 October. EPSU and PSI supported the nomination. He has an impressive record promoting the human right to water. We wish him success.

The UN is currently considering a resolution on the Human Rights to water and sanitation. There is discussion to split the human right to water and sanitation to ensure that the right to sanitation get's more focus.
