Union welcomes new collective agreement in healthcare

The two main public service federations – FSC-CCOO and FSP-UGT – have signed the third agreement covering workers in the general state administration. The agreement covers around 60,000 workers across Spain and was also signed by the CSI-CSIF, CIG and ELA trade unions. The unions are positive about the agreement and its improvements to pay particularly bearing in mind the current economic climate. Civil service unions, including OSSOO representing state workers and those representing health, social care (OSZSP) and cultural workers, signed a new higher-level collective agreement on 4 October. The agreement will run from 1 January to 31 December 2022 with the possibility of an extension for a further year. The agreement covers a range of rights such as paid leave for personal reasons, so-called indisposition leave, and service- and age-related payments as well as invalidity and retirement pensions. Municipal workers’ union Kommunal has welcomed new provisions in the crisis agreement negotiated with local and regional government employers. The agreement can be activated temporarily by the employers and was originally developed to deal with large forest fires but has been extended to any major crises such as floods, fires, electricity supply cuts or pandemics. The new agreement applies from 1 July and now limits how long an individual can be assigned to the agreement to ensure a proper recovery period.
