National and European Administration
Austerity measures, workers' information and consultation rights, access to and quality of administrations, trust in governments, quality and diversity, well-being at work are key concerns that guide EPSU’s work in national and European administration. As representatives of workers in this sector, EPSU works hard to address these core issues through social dialogue with employers at national and European level. We are active on behalf of prison service staff, tax collectors, embassy staff, labour inspectors and many more.
EPSU is the recognized and most representative European social partner in central governments that employ more than 9 million workers and civil servants. in central government administrations. The newly elected chair of EPSU’s Standing Committee on National and European Administration (NEA) is Marco Ouwehand, FNV (Netherlands). Nadja Salson is the EPSU Policy Officer responsible for the sector.

The Social Dialogue Committee for central/federal governments approved the checklist of dos and don’ts on digitalisation and work/life balance, the key outcome of a two-year EC funded project.

Apple allowed to have its cake and eat it: EPSU regrets Court decision to wipe high-tech giant’s fine of €14bn
On 15 July, the General Court annulled the European Commission’s biggest ever fine in a state aid case. In 2016, the Commission considered that a tax rebate (via tax rulings) granted by the Irish government to Apple was state aid, and therefore illegal.
