(January 2017) Health services union ver.di has submitted a claim for a 6% pay increase with a minimum of EUR 150 for the 10000 workers employed by the Sana group of clinics. The private company runs 20 clinics that are covered by the company collective agreement. Ver.di argues that workers have helped the company achieve a signfiicant rise in profits and so should have their fair share.
The Frente Comum group of public sector unions has set out its main demands for improvements in pay and conditions for 2012. It is challenging the government and the recommendations of the troika of European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund. The unions want the salary cuts of 2011 reversed and an increase in 2012 that reflects inflation with a minimum increase of €50. Among the range of other demands is a call for the government to tackle the spread of precarious work across the public sector. Meanwhile the SINTAP trade union has also attacked government plans
Responding to a government consultation the IMPACT public services union has called for a number of initiatives on on equal pay and gender equality, including requirements on employers to report on the gender pay gap and recognition of employers who take action to reduce gender equality. The union has submitted detailed proposals for action to address pay for non-teaching staff in education including pay reviews and job evaluation for a range of staff such as special needs assistants and administrative and library staff, the vast majority of whom are women.
The four unions negotiating for employees in the mental health sector, FNV Abvakabo, CNV Publieke Zaak, NU'91 and FBZ, have put forward their main demands to the GGZ employers' organisation. The collective agreement expired on 1 January 2013 and the unions are looking for an overall pay bill increase of 3% with 2.5% specifically for wages. The unions underline the urgent need to tackle recruitment challenges and make the sector more attractive to younger workers while also trying to retain older staff.
