EPSU expresses solidarity with UK junior doctors in 48h strike

EPSU supports Junior Doctor strikes UK

(6 April 2016) In light of the 48 hour strike launched by junior doctors in the UK today, EPSU’s General Secretary Jan Willem Goudriaan has sent a letter of solidarity to the British Medical Association (BMA).

The letter reads:

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of EPSU, I would like to express solidarity greetings for the 48-hour action by junior doctors beginning tomorrow. I also note your decision to launch a judicial review to challenge the government’s decision to proceed with the contract without having carried out a proper equalities impact assessment. This failure is another reflection of the UK government’s incompetence in this process and provides more ammunition to you to wing the argument to get the contract withdrawn.

We hope that your action tomorrow leads to some progress in the dispute but in view of the UK government’s approach, we send you in advance solidarity greetings for the next planned action on 26-27 April and support your decision to move to a full withdrawal of services.

Yours in solidarity,

Jan Willem Goudriaan,
EPSU General Secretary
