Services union ver.di has negotiated a new working time arrangement with the rehabilitation clinics owned by the Helios group. The agreement will mean that on-call time will be counted as part of working hours. The 4,000 workers in the 19 clinics will have new flexible hours arrangements that will average out at 38.5 hours a week in the West and 40 a week in the East.

After the third round of bargaining, the ver.di services union has secured a new 24-month agreement covering around 21,000 employees at the clinic operator Helios. There will be a 3.8% increase in total with a 1.4% rise in April this year, 2.0% in April 2022 and a further 0.4 percent in November 2022. Employees will also receive a EUR 400 corona bonus (trainees EUR 100) as well as an additional day off in recognition of the extra work during the pandemic. Services union ver.di has negotiated a new collective agreement covering 15,000 employees of the Helios group of hospitals. A pay increase of €30 a month plus 3% is backdated to 1 March this year with a further 2.4% paid in March 2009. There is also a €225 lump sum paid this year and from 1 January 2010 pay rates in the East will be 100% of those in the West. The agreement runs until 31 December 2010 and ver.di believe this will bring pay at the company in line with pay in competing companies as well as pay in the public sector. Industrial peace hasn't settled over all university clinics in Germany yet as strikes and disputes continue in some regions. In Leipzig, members of the ver.di services union took a day's strike action on 5 September in protest against poorer pay and conditions being imposed on new employees. The union wants the same collective agreements to apply to all workers and is threatening to extend the action if the employer doesn't negotiate. In Halle and Magdeburg over 90% of employees have voted for strike action but this has been postponed as negotiations continue with the employer. Ver.di wants
