Employees of private electricity companies see their pay and allowances increase by 2.55% as from 1 February. They also get a €200 lump sum payment and manual workers covered by the agreement will move to a new pay structure in July. The latest figure for inflation in Austria is 1.5% in the year to December 2006. This was also the average rate of inflation in 2006.

Unions angry at privatisation of health service supplier
NHS Logistics is a non-profit making operation that co-ordinates the supply of a vast range of goods to the National Health Service in the UK. The government is moving ahead with plans to sell the organisation to DHL, the German-owned logistics and delivery service. Public services union UNISON is running a campaign of opposition to the sell-off and is planning to ballot members over possible industrial action. Unions secure 3.7% increase in private sector electricity companies
The EPSU affiliate GDP-DJP, representing workers in the private electricity industry, negotiated a 3.7% increase on pay and other allowances in a 12-month deal from 1 February 2008. The agreement also includes a €250 lump sum. Read more at > GDP-DJP (DE)
Gas and electricity pay increases
A pay increase of 1.78% backdated to January 2005 has been agreed in the gas and electricity sectors in Belgium according to the EIRO industrial relations observatory. A further increase of 0.4% will be implemented from October and in January 2006 the increase will be in line with the increase in prices. Read more at > EIRO
