Organising workers, building union power and bargaining results

(7 February 2019) With the decline in membership of unions in many European countries, organizing and recruitment is becoming a priority across unions and the European Trade Union Federations. Leaders of several federations met with Polish and other unions to share the experiences gained in recent years with organizing workers in Central and Eastern European countries. They looked in particular at the experiences of the Centrum Organizowania Związków Zawodowych. It trains organisers, union activists and together with workers, unions and the Federations develops campaigns to ensure union representation and bargaining results. Funding, conflicting interests, overlaps etc. were considered. The challenge we all stand is clear and a deep understanding that we need to scale up our efforts. The EPSU General Secretary participated and used the opportunity to meet with Polish unions, 6 February 2019, Warsaw.
