(26 September 2016) EPSU’s  Slovak Trade Union of Health and Social Services (SOZZASS) joined a broad demonstration protesting against CETA  outside  the informal trade ministers meeting on 23 September in Bratislava.

The demonstration brought together a wide range of civil society and trade union organisations and was one in a series of growing protests against CETA in many European countries.

Anton Szalay from SOZZASS and Penny Clarke EPSU (pictured right in the photo) also  addressed the demonstration.

The Slovak Confederation SOZ hosted a number of workshops and panel debates on CETA on 22 and 23 September  in the margins of the demonstration bringing together experts and activists from the Brussels2Seattle network, Friends of the Earth Europe (FoEE) and others.  A further critique of CETA was published on the same days  - ‘Making Sense of CETA’ that adds to the growing evidence of the many problems with the Agreement.  Many of the points are exchoed in the recent resolution adopted  by the  EPSU Health and Social Services Standing Committee Free trade agreements: Health care and social services are not for trading.
