Liverpool Social Workers Strike - call for support

Carola Fischbach-Pyttel co-chaired a session at the European Social Forum on public services and the welfare state. This session allowed for many trade union activists to argue in favour of quality public services. It was also a prime occasion to inform the audience about ongoing disputes throughout Europe's public services. The meeting called for solidarity amongst others with the Liverpool Social Workers, members of the Liverpool City Branch of UNISON, who have been on strike since 24 August (for further information see below). On Saturday, 6 November, the Liverpool UNISON Branch will organise a march and ralley to protest against the employer's policy. They would certainly welcome solidarity messages from all over Europe on that crucial day as well as possible donations to the strike hardship fund.
