(7 May 2007) Eurogas and the union side considered the follow up to the plenary 15 March 2007. It was agreed to establish a working group to consider the future prospects for employment and competencies/ skills in the gas sector and taking into account the employment study of the European Commission done by EcoTec), a recent ETUC study on jobs and a low carbon economy, the energy package as proposed by the Commission (10 January) amongst others;
Other subjects considered included the intersectoral agreement on violence at work, health and safety; corporate social responsibility and a join approach to the European Commission to be consulted on future proposals regarding the development of the internal market for electricity and gas and including the impact assessment.
The next meeting of the plenary of the social dialogue committee is 15 November 2007.
