Point 4 of the EPSU Standing Orders governing the Congress stipulates the following:
"The terms of all elected offices will expire at Congress. The affiliates shall nominate candidate(s) for the positions, of inter alia, President and General Secretary for election by Congress and communicate the proposals to the Secretariat five months before Congress. Two months before Congress the Executive Committee decides which candidate(s) they will recommend. At this point in time the current holders of the offices referred to will make it known whether they run for re-election."
The Executive Committee at its meeting of 25 - 26 November 2008 was informed that
1) Anne-Marie Perret is candidate for re-election to the position of EPSU President;
2) Carola Fischbach-Pyttel is candidate for re-election to the position of EPSU General Secretary.
The Executive Committee of 26 - 27 March 2009 will be invited to make a formal recommendation for the above positions.
These elections shall take place on the basis of article 7.9, paragraphs a) and b) of the revised EPSU Constitution, once adopted by Congress.
