EPSU conference: Building upon welfare states and trade union strength for a social Europe

We are pleased to invite to the 39th meeting of the NEA Standing Committee, which this year is linked to our sectoral EPSU Conference dedicated to National and EU administrations.
Both meetings will take place in Kiev (Ukraine) on 19-20 March 2013.
The NEA Standing Committee will start at 09:00 on 19 March and finish at 13:00 on 19 March.

The NEA conference Building upon welfare states and trade union strength for a social Europe is open to all NEA affiliates and related networks of groups of workers.
It will start at 14h30 on 19 March and end at 13h00 on 20 March.

The background to the conference is the EPSU/PSI cooperation agreement, according to which EPSU is committed to carrying out specific activities in the countries/region of our new members including a sectoral conference, hence the choice of Ukraine, before Congress in 2014. NEA is last of the 4 sectors of EPSU to hold such a conference.
As we are starting the preparations of EPSU Congress in May 2014, the objectives will be to bring closer all affiliates, take stock of our key activities and outcomes in central government and ensure that the NEA priorities reflect those of all affiliates.
As part of EPSU’s alternatives to austerity in Europe, we will discuss future of the welfare states, its public funding based on fair and progressive taxation, trade union rights and actions including cross-border trade union cooperation at all levels.
INTERPRETATION
Interpretation has been requested to and from English, French, German, Croatian, Italian and Russian.

To note, the meetings will be followed by the annual meeting of the North East Europe Constituency on 20-21 March at hotel RUS (see LC 7 (2013) sent to NEE Constituency members)
