The ADEDY public sector confederation has called a national strike for 7 April to follow up the action on 4 February. The confederation is protesting against government measures to cut the welfare bill, in particular pensions, and introduce higher direct and indirect taxes. According to the union the planned cuts to pensions in 2016 will be EUR 1.8 billion.

Unions continue fight to restore cuts in pay and conditions
The FSC-CCOO and FSP-UGT public service federations have seen some progress in restoring cuts in pay and conditions for workers in the justice sector. Recent changes have been implemented in relation to additional time off, filling vacancies, recruiting temporary workers on to the workforce, negotiating the use of temporary workers and union involvement in the introduction of new technology. Unions will continue to mobilise against cuts
The public sector federations of CGIL and UIL were pleased at the level of support for the public sector-wide strike and the 30000 who joined the national demonstration in Rome. The unions are protesting against the government's spending review which will see thousands of jobs cut and the termination of contracts for temporary workers.
