Unions consult over agreement in regional government

After two years without an updated collective agreement, unions in provincial government are now consulting with their members over a possible deal. The proposed agreement would be effectively backdated to 1 June 2012 and run until 31 December 2015. There will be a 2% pay increase on 1 January 2015, followed by a 1% increase on 1 July. A lump sum of €450 will be paid to all workers when the agreement is signed. Other elements include support for those made redundant in terms of help to find new jobs, training and careers advice; action on jobs for disabled and young workers; regulation of flexible working arrangements and measures to take account of increased retirement ages.

Unions consult over pay restoration agreement

Public service unions are consulting members of a new collective agreement - the Lansdowne Road agreement - that will include a range of measures to restore some of the pay cuts that have been implemented over the past six years. The first phase will take place in 2016 with the salary amount above which the pension levy is payable increased to €24,750 (from the current threshold of €15,000). This will reduce the pension levy by €600 per annum for all public servants earning above the threshold. Unions strike over regional government's failure to abide by agreement

Belgium

The CGSP and CSC public service federations in Wallonia organised strike action on 30 November over the failure of the regional government to respect agreements that it has signed. The unions had been warning from early September that urgent action was required. The issues involve a commitment to permanent status for contract workers, shorter working time, filling of vacant posts to ensure service quality and revaluing low salaries for workers on the level B pay grade.

Unions consult over deadlock in provincial government

The FNV Abvakabo and CNV Publieke Zaak are organsing consultations with members around the country to discuss what initiatives to take to unblock negotiations over a new collective agreement covering provincial government. The employers have not offered any pay increase and there has been no progress in negotations for two years. The consultative meetings have been called for the first half of June and unions are calling for non-members to attend as well.
