New agreement in non-profit education sector

The Kommunal trade union has negotiated two two-year collective agreements with the Fremia employers’ organisation that covers non-profit service providers. In the agreement with Fremia covering personal assistance, wage increases will be negotiated around an amount of at least SEK 993 (€84) from 1 October 2023 and at least SEK 875 (€74) from 1 October 2024. Minimum wage rates will be increased by SEK 1,350 (€115) from 1 January 2024 and by SEK 875 (€74) from 1 January 2025 while all allowances and supplements will be increased by 4.1% and 3.3% on the same dates. A new agreement between unions, employers and the Flemish government has delivered a range of benefits for workers in various health and social services in the non-profit sector. Overall, there will be the equivalent of 3,716 new posts to help tackle high workloads. There will be a general 1.7% increase in wages but with some additional increases for those on the lowest pay rates and those will long service. In elderly care, the rehabilitation sector, psychiatric care homes and sheltered living initiatives, there will be a new pay structure from 1 July 2021, bringing pay rates in alignment

Employers in the non-profit sector in the Wallonia region of Belgium have rejected a an agreement signed by the unions and the regional government last year. The non-profit sector covers various services including health, housing and social services and the agreement would have provided a range of benefits for the 19,000 workers. The employers have rejected particular elements of the deal including the creation of more jobs to allow employees to take more paid leave and extra finance to encourage trade union organisation and social dialogue in some of the smaller organisations in the sector.
