Health union in protests over pay

The Sanitas health union began a series of protests and pickets on 23 June calling for a 10% pay increase and for the government to implement the collective agreement for the sector that covers around 100000 workers. EPSU sent a message of support and affiliates gathering for the EPSU South East Europe constituency meeting in Sofia also agreed a message of support. Sanitas met with health ministry officials after the first protests on 23 June and further meetings are planned

Health workers’ protest over pay

The LVSADA health workers’ union, supported by associations representing doctors and nurses, organised a warning strike and protest on 27 July, arguing that the government had failed to meet commitments to increase pay. The union says that a 10% increase should have been paid on 1 July on the current salaries of €1963 for doctors, €1183 for nurses, midwives and other professionals and €745 for support staff. LVSADA further argues that the government has also failed to meet a commitment from 2017 that would have seen these salaries reach €2327, €1396 and €931 respectively. Depending on the

Health union continues protests over pay and bonuses

Members of the Sanitas health and social care union joined protests in 14 cities around the country on 20 March as part of the union's continuing campaign over pay and bonuses. Sanitas is trying to ensure that all workers in the health and social services sector get the pay rise they are entitled to and it also wants to see limits on bonuses lifted. Further actions are planned if the government doesn't come up with concrete proposals.
