In response to the latest report from the Commission for Reform of the Public Administration, the CCOO confederation has criticised the government for failure to consult or negotiate over any of the issues being dealt with by the Commission. The Commission was set up at the end of 2012 to examine how to streamline administrative procedures and create more "efficient" public service. The union argues that many of the proposals included in the report have serious implications for the rights and working conditions of public sector workers but none have been discussed with the trade unions.

Union criticises call for pension reform
The FOA says that pension reform in recent years has had an impact with 31% of its members taking early retirement in 2009, down from 41% in 2006. The union argues that this is one reason why further pension reform should not be on the agenda. FOA also points out that the issue has been raised again because of pressure on public finances and it says that it is outrageous that public finances should be used to bail out the finance sector with the consequence that demands are made to cut workers’ pensions. Union calls for representation in health reform talks
The GÖD public service trade union has said that hospital workers should not lose out as a result of health reforms and has criticised government plans for cuts in finance. The union’s president for health and social care, Johann Hable, has called for the union to be represented in discussions over health reforms in order to ensure that workers don’t end up paying the price for the changes. Public service federations demand negotiations on reform
The public service federations - Fp-Cgil, Cisl-Fp, Uil-Fpl and Uil-Pa - have set out clearly their demands on the government in advance of their big regional mobilisations on 1st, 2nd and 3rd July. The trade unions argue that the current and previous governments have failed to undertake serious reform and instead have hampered change by freezing collective bargaining since 2010 as well as freezing recruitment and cutting 222000 jobs.
