Members of UNISON in England have given their support to changes to "Agenda for Change", the main national agreement covering the pay and conditions of workers in the National Health Service (NHS). UNISON argues that the changes will be important in maintaining a national agreement and preventing the break away of more NHS Trusts looking for local or regional pay arrangements. The changes will mean that progression up the pay scale will depend on individuals' skills, competences and performance. There will also be more pay flexibility for senior staff.

Members back new childcare agreement
Workers in the childcare sector have given their backing to a new collective agreement that will run until 31 December 2014. The deal was a long time coming with the employers rejecting the last two agreements leaving the sector with an updated agreement for over 18 months. There will be increases of 1% from August this year and a further 1% from next February, with lump sums of €200 in March 2014 and €150 in September 2014. Union members back deal in private health
Members of ver.di employed by the SRH private health company have voted with a 70% approval for the new collective agreement. Workers will get a 5% increase (minimum €150) in on both 1 July 2023 and 1 July 2024. There will also be one-off payments (net for full-time, part-time pro rata) of €1000 in June 2023 and €500 in January 2024. The allowance for trainees will increase by €100 in both 2023 and 2024 and they will get one-off payments of €300 in 2023 and €200 in 2024. Other provisions include extra paid leave for employees with long service.
Trade union members back pension age agreement
A ballot of members of the FNV trade union confederation produced a large majority in favour of an agreement in principle with AOW employers’ organization over changes to pension ages. The agreement is against the background of government plans to increase retirement ages. The deal with the AOW allows for an increase in pension age from 65 to 66 2020 but there is flexibility to allow people to retire earlier on a lower pension. Read more at > FNV (NL)
