The LOZ doctors’ union has negotiated a new agreement with the government that will see pay increase in three stages, rising in relation to national average salaries. The doctors’ campaign had been supported by the EPSU affiliate and health workers’ union SOZZASS, which has been calling for higher pay for all workers in the sector.

Doctors' union negotiates pay increase for 2012
The Marburger Bund doctors’ trade union has agreed a pay increase of 2.9% for doctors in municipal hospitals. The agreement runs from 1 January to 31 December 2012 and in addition there is a lump sum payment of €440 to cover the period from September to December 2011, effectively after the previous agreement expired until the new one comes into effect. Union secures 3% increase in energy agreement
Ver.di has negotiated a 3% pay increase from 1 January 2011 for the 20,000 workers in the private energy sector in Eastern Germany. The deal also includes a €1,500 lump sum payment to cover the period from July to December 2010. Trainees will also get the 3% increase and a €300 lump sum. The union also resisted employer attempts to increase working time beyond the current 38 hours a week and have ensured that the framework agreement continues until 2015. Read more at > ver.di (DE)
Doctors' win large pay increases after threat to resign
Doctors are to get pay rises worth between 5000 (€206) and 8000 crowns (€330) as part of a deal that will their salaries increase to around 1.5 times the national average salary by 2013.
