New government makes commitment on job security and productivity

Energy union ver.di and the EON group works council have negotiated a compromise agreement with the company to protect jobs and working conditions for most of EON’s 40,000 employees in Germany. The company’s planned “perform-to-win” savings programme threatened job cuts and other major changes across the group. The agreement means that jobs, collective agreements, training provision and pensions will be protected until 2012. Global trade union federations have welcomed the initiative of the ENGIE energy multinational to commit to cover any hospitalisation and death-related costs arising from the COVID-19 virus for any of its 170000 employees around the world. Tough negotiating by the Sanitas health union and effective mobilisation of its members is delivering positive outcomes.
