The VPOD/SSP public service union says that its members in the federal parliament cleaning service will take strike action in June if a plan to decentralise the service to department level takes place. The union argues that the federal building and logistics department has been carrying out a three-year cost cutting regime and that decentralisation of cleaning will be a first step towards outsourcing of the service that employs 400 workers.

The SIPTU and IMPACT trade unions have said they will not cooperate with the transfer of staff and responsibilities from area partnership and leader companies to local authorities. This is in response to the deliberate exclusion of unions from consultation on the transfer of the 21 companies that were set up to tackle unemployment in certain areas, to ten local authorities. This is despite the fact that the minister responsible has said that the process will result in job losses. IMPACT has asked local authority workers to withdraw their cooperation too. Workers in the Treasury and Tax administration in France took strike action on 7 July in protest at the reorganisation of their departments. The government claims that reorganisation is aimed at providing an improved service but unions argue that the plans are being carried in order to cut jobs. Read more at > FO
(February 2017) The FP-CGIL public services federation has called on the government to stop the planned reorganisation of the fire service and to consult properly with the unions about any proposals to change the role and organisation of the service and the pay and working conditions of employees. The union says that the government has ignored the opinitons of the union over plans to restructure the service and reduce its autonomy by giving a role to the local prefecture.
