Union criticises agency for lack of progress with negotiations

The FP-CGIL public service federation has criticised the employers' negotiating body, ARAN, for failing to make progress on a new collective agreement covering managers and professionals in public administration. The union has a clear set of demands relating to trade union representation, salary protection in cases of restructuring, severance pay, the salary structure and working hours. It hopes that these will be addressed by the new president of ARAN.

Union criticises councils' use of temporary and agency staff

U.K.

The GMB general union has attacked local authorities for spending over £1.1 billion a year employing temporary and/or agency staff. The union argues that this marks a failure by management to ensure adequate levels of staff are available to provide a proper public service. Federation criticises lack of equality plans across public administration

The FSC-CCOO public services federation has expressed its concern about the lack of equality plans across regional and provincial authorities. In a meeting of the Committee that deals with equality plans it was revealed that only six of the autonomous communities have a plan in place. The 11 others have no plan although may have taken some measures that would feature in a plan. The situation in the 50 provincial authorities is worse with very few - only nine having - a plan with a further six taking the first steps towards adopting one. Health unions criticise lack of social dialogue and block on unions

Health unions came together with representatives of trade union confederations to criticise a proposed amendment to the Health Care and Insurance Act. The unions argue that the amendment is effectively revenge for recent trade union protests against government policy and that it will deny trade unions and workers representation on health institution management bodies.
