CGIL FP Congress looks forward and makes string commitment to trade union cooperation in Europe

(3 December 2018) The challenges for the Italian workers and their unions are many and have been made worse by the new government that includes the extreme-rightwing party Lega. The government has already taken measures against refugees and migrants and these measures affect workers in migration and asylum centers as well.  EPSU General Secretary brought solidarity greetings and thanked the union for the many contributions to the work of the European Federation and including with the establishment of the UECare network. Congress supported the call for solidarity for the Turkish unionists which were arrested and released during the Congress.  The General Secretaries of the Italian unions UIL FPL (Michelangelo Librandi) and CISL-FP (Maurizio Petriccioli) were also attending in a display of trade union cooperation. Many affiliates sent delegations.  The Italian affiliate CGIL FP held its 11th Congress 28 November –December in Perugia. It re-elected Serena Sorrentino as General Secretary
