European Parliament to hold hearing on new EU gender strategy

(Brussels, 20 January, 2010) The Women’s’ Rights and Gender Equality Committee of the European Parliament (FEMM) will hold a public hearing on identifying a new EU strategy for Gender Equality. The hearing is set for 28 January 2010. (more info here)

The hearing, entitled: "Towards a new EU strategy for gender equality". is related to the own-initiative report recommending actions and initiatives for the new EU gender strategy, based on the assessment of the results of the Roadmap for equality, which is coming to the end of its period this year. EPSU contributed to this Roadmap assessment at the end of 2009

The hearing will consist of two discussion panels: one on the objectives and priorities and a second on the tools and instruments for an effective EU gender equality strategy.

The hearing will be presided over by FEMM Committee Chair, Eva-Britt Svennson MEP.
