Following the day of action on 15 May, seven public service federations - CGT, CFDT, Unsa, FSU, Solidaires, CFTC and FAFPT - met with public service minister Marylise Lebranchu. The unions expressed their concern about the loss of jobs and the impact on public services. They also called for action on increasingly precarious employment and the urgent need to tackle the loss of purchasing power by increasing the index on which public sector salaries are based. The minister made no commitment on ending the pay freeze but did indicate that a meeting on pay could take place by the middle of June.

Federations discuss skills and training with health minister
The general secretaries of the three main public service federations FP-CGIL, CISL-FP and UIL FP/FPL met with the health minister to discuss contracts, skills, training, professional status and job security as essential elements of a health service for all citizens. Federations call for dialogue with ministers
The Fp-Cgil, Cisl-Fp and Uil-Pa trade union federations have written jointly to all the new ministers to urge them to negotiate with the unions over pay, jobs, restructuring and the provision of services. The unions acknowledge that the changes anticipated vary considerably from ministry to ministry but argue that it is crucial to re-establish a proper process of social dialogue to ensure any changes are properly negotiated with appropriate account taken of the need to invest in the workforce.
