(March 31st) The impact of the COVID-19 outbreak is unprecedented, but must not jeopardise jobs and incomes. Worker involvement through information, consultation and participation is more important than ever to anticipate and deal with the social and economic consequences which may arise.

EPSU and the other European Trade Union Federations have published joint recommendations for European Works Councils (EWC) and companies under the European Company statute (Societas Europaea - SE) on workers’ information, consultation and participation in decision making.

The aim of the recommendations is twofold: to advise members in EWC/SE-WC on how they can and should play a role in dealing with the COVID-19 crisis in their organisation; and to request members in EWC/SE-WC to support national and European trade unions to put pressure on management to make sure that effective measures are taken to protect workers’ health, safeguard jobs and to support workers’ incomes.
