24-hour strike over new threat to public sector pay and jobs

The ADEDY public sector confederation organized a national strike on 5 October in response to the government’s latest round of austerity measures. One part of the latest package of cuts would involve transferring 30,000 public sector workers to a special labour reserve where they would be lower pay, with the prospect that the jobs would be permanently cut.
