The health workers' union reports on official data for average wages in the health sector showing an overall average of 32815 rubles (EUR 463) a month in 2017, up by 5.9% from 2016. Doctors' pay averaged 56448 rubles (EUR 796) up 11.4% on 2016 while medical personnel saw their average pay increase by 7.4% to 30246 rubles (EUR 426). Average pay for junior medical staff was 21413 rubles (EUR 302), 16.1% higher than in 2016. Inflation during 2017 fell from 5% in January to 2% by the end of the year. Overall average wages across Russia were around 40000 rubles a month (EUR 564).

Pay increase for gas and heating sector above inflation
Workers in the gas and heating sector will see their pay rise by at least 3.8% with lower paid workers getting a 3.9% increase. The agreement covers the 12-month period from 1 November 2008 and the pay rise is ahead of the current inflation rate of 3.1% in the year to October. Wages lag behind inflation
The OAO public sector trade union organisation has published data on pay developments across the public and private sectors. It notes that average pay in the state sector fell by 0.6% in the year to February 2012 - the first year of the two-year agreement negotiated in 2011. The report also notes that wage developments across the economy have not kept pace with inflation. The OAO is a coordinating body that brings together 16 trade unions in the state and local government sectors. Public sector deal delivers 3% average pay rise
The annual pay negotiations that cover the public sector have resulted in an average pay increase of 3% which will also apply to allowances and other pay additions. Lower paid workers will actually see their pay rise by 3.22% with a 2.91% applied to higher salaries. The increases come into effect on 1 January 2022. The increase is the highest for more than 10 years and ahead of the inflation rate up to September 2020 which forms one of the agreed bases for the negotiations.
