News and photo opportunity:

(BRUSSELS) The European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) and its global federation Public Services International (PSI) are sending a delegation of trade unions from Europe and Africa to join the rally against the EU-Turkey proposal to keep refugees out of Europe. Led by the S&D (the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament) the rally is to strongly urge the European Council meeting on 17-18th March to reject the EU/Turkey “one-in, one-out deal’’ on refugees.

The ‘’one-in, one-out deal” refers to the proposal between EU and Turkey, that for every asylum seeker who is turned back to Greece, the EU will take in one asylum seeker already in Turkey into the EU.

Coming to Brussels this week for a seminar on “Public Services Welcoming Migrants” organised by PSI and EPSU the trade union delegation consists of representatives from Algeria, Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia and Turkey.
