Progress continues on agreement to reduce 3rd Party violence in the work place

HOSPEEM, CEMR, EPSU, CoESS, Eurocommerce and UNI europa
commitment on third-party violence at work

(Brussels, 20 January 2010) Talks on preventing 3rd Party violence in the workplace continued to make progress this week. EPSU, with trade union sister organisation UNI-Europa held discussions with Employer Organisations from the commercial, local government and hospital sectors.

EPSU and UNI-Europa continued to base their position on the report on 3rd Party violence relased in September 2009.

5 points were greed during the follow-up meeting on 13th January 2010:

1. The parties (CEMR, HOSPEEM, EUROCOMMERCE, COESS, EPSU and UNIEUROPA) will aim to produce a document based on paragraph 5 of the joint declaration of October 2009, preferably by the end of June 2009.

2. The document will include clear recommendations and guidelines to national social partners, and good practice examples.

3. The document will be drafted by representatives of the parties, meeting in a small group, [if possible] funded by the Commission.

4. Arrangements for monitoring developments at national level will be included in the document which the parties will draft together.

5. Other interested parties [in particular EFEE and ETUCE] will be invited to sign the joint declaration of October 2009 and to participate in the drafting process.
