Regional government agrees gender violence procedure

The regional government of Andalucia in Southern Spain has agreed a procedure to provide protection and support to employees who are victims of gender violence. The employer will ensure the right to comprehensive social assistance and the employee will have the right to transfer to another job and to have their data specially protected. Confidentiality will also apply to any dependants and if the worker is temporarily incapacitated as a result of any physical or psychological impact from the violence, they will paid the full level of benefit.

EPSU agrees procedure for negotiating transnational agreements

Following detailed discussions in the utilities standing committee over a period of three years, a procedure for negotiating transnational agreements was debated and approved at the EPSU Executive Committee meeting on 9-10 November. Increasingly agreements have been signed with multi-national companies, often by European works councils, but European Federations like EPSU, following the initiative in the European Metalworkers Federation, have been working to establish procedures that give a clear role for trade unions in the process.

Deal agreed in regional government

A new collective agreement covering 580,000 employees in regional government has been approved by ver.di’s collective bargaining committee. There will be a lump sum payment of €360 (€120 for trainees) plus a pay increase of 1.5% from 1 April this year. Ver.di estimates this to be worth around 2.3% overall. There will be a further pay increase on 1 January 2012, consisting of 1.9% plus €17 (€6 for trainees) that ver.di calculates as an overall increase of 2.55%.
