The European Care Strategy predicts that more than 1.6 million additional long-term care workers will be needed by 2050 to keep coverage in the EU at least at the current level.

Despite this, most Member States report growing staff shortages and difficulties to recruit and retain workers in the social services sector.

To attract and retain qualified and skilled workers, it is essential to improve working conditions and manage evolving job profiles, skills and training needs in social services.

The FORTE project pays special attention to the role of social partners and collective bargaining in the sphere of skills, training needs, and improvement of working conditions.

The final conference will provide an opportunity to look back at the main outcomes and learnings of the project, discuss strategies for skills development and brainstorm on desired content for a future European Strategy on Skills in Long-Term-Care.
