EPSU sends solidarity to striking non-teaching staff in Portugal

(3 February 2017) EPSU has expressed support for the strike of non-teaching staff in schools across Portugal. The unions argue that these workers face precarious employment conditions and are without a proper career structure. EPSU General Secretary Jan Willem Goudriaan said: "This group of workers often gets a raw deal despite the important contribution they make to the education sector. We hope that the employers come to the negotiating table with some good proposals for improving employment conditions and this will then help boost recruitment and tackle the staffing shortages in the sector"
