Electricity social partners consider implementation and evaluation of agreements

(Brussels, 12 March 2008) The social partners discussed the use of the equality toolkit. It is important to distribute it widely, and the expectation is that unions and employers discuss how it can be used to improve the situation for women and ensure a situation of equality is achieved. The social partners will consider the implementation and evaluation of agreements in a more general manner.

Other issues discussed concerned:
- a progress report on the two projects demographic change and restructuring;

- discussion on the preparation of the workshop on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on the social aspects of the South east European energy Community; this will take place in May and will be followed by a larger conference in October;

- multi-sectoral agreement on violence at work. Representatives of Eurelectric and the trade unions will participate;

- draft outlines of a joint statement on CSR to follow up the report on CSR.

The meeting took place 10 March 2008, Brussels.

The EPSU Deputy General secretary as well as the vice president of the Standing Committee Utilities (Jan Ruden, SEKO), and colleagues from Ireland (ESBOA), France (CGT-FNME), Germany (Verdi) and Italy (CISL-Flaei) participated in the meeting.
