The FNFSP public services union federation is planning a week of action in March as part of its continuing campaign against government policies. The Federation will be organising events to ensure that the public are aware of the impact of government policies on reforming the public administration and privatising services. The Federation is also protesting to protect the rights of public administration workers and the right to collective bargaining.

The CGT trade union confederation is planning a week of action in the public and private sectors from 24 November with 26 November a key date. The confederation’s protest is over pay, employment and the latest government proposals to reform employment contracts and to raise the retirement age to 70. The CGT argues that an increase to salaries and boost to public services are important elements of a strategy to respond to the current crisis. Read more at > CGT (FR)
Health workers in Northern Ireland are taking part in two weeks of industrial action from 27 April to 10 May in protest at the latest pay deal, lower than for health workers across the rest of the UK, and no pay offer for 2015-2016. The action will involve the withdrawal of additional, voluntary, unpaid and goodwill time. Radiographers and midwives will also be joining the protests, with midwives voting for action for the first time in their history as their colleagues in the rest of the UK did at the end of last year. The STAL local government union has organised a week of action around the country calling for implementation of the agreements it has signed with municipalities to retain the 35-hour working week. As part of austerity measures introduced last year the government imposed a 40-hour week in public administration but trade unions, including STAL and SINTAP, have managed to negotiate locally to keep the 35-hour week.
