The past month was a busy one for EPSU, particularly with the 52nd Meeting of our Executive Committee and the launch of our brand new website. It was also a month which saw the international day of commemoration for all workers injured, killed or made ill in the workplace (28 April). Just a few days later the world celebrated May Day (1 May), also known as Labour Day or International Workers’ Day. Workers and trade unionists across the planet took to the streets, united in defense of rights, decent pay and better working conditions. Finally, we mourned the premature loss of one of the world’s musical greats, Prince, who was also a lifelong trade unionist. This month’s newsletter contains articles on all this and more – from rights for care workers to McDonald’s recent tax bill in France, to water privatisation and warnings against CETA.
