Dear colleagues,
Further to our ‘Save the Date!’ we are pleased to invite you to our on-line meeting on Public procurement, Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and Concessions in times of COVID-19, on 4 June 2020.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for affiliates to reflect on how we can make use of the COVID-19 crisis to advance on our key demands concerning:
- protecting and promoting the direct provision of public services, with no obligation or pressure on public authorities to outsource services
- supporting a more sustainable and strategic use of public procurement, i.e., no lowest cost tenders, no social dumping etc and making sure public procurement is used to accelerate social and ecological transition
- opposing the use of PPPs as a way to deliver public services and ensuring that (growing) public debt is not used as an excuse to have even more PPPs
These demands are part and parcel of EPSU’s demands for a more sustainable and fair Europe post COVID-19.
Attached you will find a draft agenda.
Our meeting will be divided into two sessions: In the morning from 10:00 to 12:00 we will focus on public procurement and in the afternoon from 13:30 to 15:30 we will focus on PPPs. You are invited to register for one or both sessions.
Please confirm your participation by mail to Anneke Krijger, [email protected], as soon as possible and before 28 May at the latest.
Please indicate in your mail if your will participate in only the morning session or in only the afternoon session or in both sessions.
For the meeting we will provide interpretation in the following languages:
Active: English, French, Spanish
Passive: German and Italian
We hope that this helps to have a broad participation form affiliates (we can have up to 30 participants.)
Further information and connection details for the on-line platform will be sent to registered participants. Please note now however that you will need a USB Headset (a combination of a microphone and headphone) to be able to effectively participate in the meeting, especially if you will be speaking.
We look forward to ‘seeing’ you on our platform on 4 June!
Best regards
Paola, Richard, Penny and Anneke
