Privatisation, digitalisation and working time, the priorities for EPSU affiliates in local and regional administration

Public Sector workers deserve better EPSU

(14 October 2019) On 10 October, EPSU held its biannual Standing Committee (SC) on Local and Regional Government which drew together EPSU members from across the continent. The Committee opened its work with a commemoration of Arnaud Mellaerts, a committed and active member of the committee from CGT – France who recently passed away.

The Committee unanimously elected Mads Samsing from HK/Kommunal as Committee  president and Ángeles Villaverde Ruibal from FeSP-UGT as vice-president.

The Standing Committee adopted the Programme of Actions 2019-2024, that will implement the programme of Action adopted at the Congress in Dublin. The key areas of work will be to resist privatisation, liberalisation and outsourcing, and to defend quality public services, together with the continuation of the work on digitalisation and digital transition for local governements and deepening the discussions over working time organisation.
