According to the EIRO industrial relations observatory, the two main social partners in Lithuania, the LSPK union federation and LPK employers' federation are working to extend sectoral social dialogue across the public and private sectors. It is hoped that this will also have an impact on collective bargaining and increase the extent to which collective agreements are signed across different sectors.

Unions look for further boost for low paid
Negotiations are underway between the LO confederation and the NHO employers' organisation over pay with the LO unions looking for higher increases for workers who are on less than 90% of the average industrial wage. The negotiations cover mainly private sector companies but public service unions have membership in many of these including private nursing homes and child welfare institutions, asylum reception centres, ambulance services and veterinary care among others. A new study by the EIRO industrial relations observatory looks at how working conditions can be improved through social dialogue. The study looks at a number of different areas such as working time and flexibility, occupational health and safety, training and lifelong learning and responses to an ageing workforce. There is a large number of examples in the overall report as well as the separate country studies, including examples from the public services - working time flexibility in Finnish local government, dealing with the ageing workforce in the Austrian energy sector.
