Wage increases secured for health workers

Norway

Negotiations between health trade unions (including Fagforbundet, NSF and Delta) and the Spekter employers' organization has resulted in a central settlement for hospital employees. The agreement guarantees a minimum wage supplement of NOK 22,000 (€1905) for all employees. A 3.7% general supplement ensures equitable compensation, with local negotiations expected to further improve overall wages by 5.2%. Efforts to promote full-time employment within hospitals are underway, addressing the prevalence of part-time work. Initiatives include increasing the minimum rate for weekend work and developing a new model for calculating weekend supplements. These changes aim to make weekend shifts more attractive and facilitate full-time employment opportunities. The unions say that the negotiations have secured real wage growth for employees in healthcare institutions, ensuring fair compensation and improved living standards.
