Potential four-day strike in private teaching sector

Trade unions representing Finland's public and welfare sectors have issued a second strike warning, setting the stage for a potential four-days of action in the private teaching sector, running from 13 to 16 May. This will affect educational institutions previously hit by strike action and targeting additional locations, including music schools. The negotiations involve the JHL and Jyty trade unions representing support and administrative staff, the OAJ teachers’ union and the Sivista employers’ organisation. Conciliation has not so far produced results, prompting the plans for over 2000 union members across seven localities to take action. Central to the dispute are disagreements regarding payment solutions and the agreement's language, with unions emphasizing the importance of maintaining competitive pay and empowering shop stewards to fulfil their duties effectively.
