New two-year agreements in private health and eldercare

Kommunal and the Almega Vårdföretagarna employers’ organisation have negotiated two new collective agreements for employees working in private health and social care and eldercare both of which run from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2025. In the private health and social care agreement, the minimum wage will be increased by SEK 1350 (€115) in 2023 and by 3.5% in 2024. The general wage rises will be SEK 1156 (€100) in 2023 and SEK 995 (€85) in 2024. The new minimum salary as of 1 December 2023 will be SEK 21297 (€1830) with a rate of SEK 24013 (€2060) for professionals. These rates will rise to SEK 22000 (€1890) and SEK 24805 (€2130) in December 2024. In eldercare, the increases are similar with a SEK 1350 (€115) in 2023 but the 2024 increase will be 3.3%. The general increases will be SEK 1046 (€90) in 2023 and SEK 951 (€80) in 2024. The new minimum salary as of 1 December 2023 will be SEK 20849 (€1790) but SEK 23933 (€2055) for assistant nurses or employees with a corresponding level of vocational education. These rates will rise to SEK 21537 (€1850) and SEK 24723 (€2120) in December 2024. The Vårdförbundet nurses’ union also negotiates in private health but bargaining continues for that part of the agreement.

Private care unions mobilise to get new collective agreement

The main unions in residential care in the Galicia region, UGT, CC.OO. and CIG, have formed a common front to mobilise and put pressure on private nursing home companies, which they accuse of blocking the negotiation of a new collective agreement to replace the one that expired at the end of 2019. The series of mobilizations will end on 19 May with a demonstration outside San Lázaro residence in the Galician capital, run by the DomusVi French care multinational. The unions point out that pay scales mean that effectively some jobs are set below the minimum wage with pay for kitchen assistants

Union negotiates two-year agreement in private care

The FOA trade union and the Danish Chamber of Commerce have agreed a two-year renewal of the collective agreement for employees private care covering also residential homes and nursing homes for the first time. The hourly wage increases by DKK 6 (€0.80) as of 1 March and there will be a further increase of DKK 5.75 (€0.77) per hour on 1 March 2024. FOA made a point of securing a flat-rate increase for all employees. This will mean that a social and health assistant on day duty can will get a monthly salary increase of just over DKK 3,600 (€485) when the full effect of the collective agreement
