Unions reject pay offer from care sector employers

Following consultations with their members, the FNV and NU'91 trade unions have rejected a pay offer from the ActiZ and Zorghuisnl employer organisations in the care sector. The sector, employing 470,000 workers is covered by a collective agreement running from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023 but negotiations were opened over a salary adjustment because of the surge in inflation. The employers’ offer of a 5% increase for both this year and next year has been rejected by the unions who point to the 10% pay rises that have been awarded in healthcare. They are also unhappy that the employers want to restrict what can be negotiated next year when the two-year agreement is up for renewal.

Union rejects two offers from municipal employers

The FNV trade union reports that negotiations covering the municipal sector have some way to go as the two sides remain quite far apart. The employers have effectively made two offers - one focuses more on paid leave while the other focuses on pay. The first fails to acknowledge the FNV's demands for a policy on wellbeing while offering little on pay while the second also lacked a wellbeing policy, threatened to reduce leave and its 4.55% pay offer is also well below the union target. Unions reject latest pay offer from higher education sector employers

The UCEA university employers association has increased its pay offer from 0.3% to 0.4% and refused to work with unions to produce a manual on how to avoid redundancies. The unions representing manual, administrative and teaching staff in the sector have condemned the latest pay offer although did acknowledge progress in discussion in some areas such as equal pay. Ver.di rejects employers' pay offer

Following a second round of pay negotiations covering federal and local government workers, ver.di has rejected the employers' latest offer. The employers claim the deal is the equivalent of a 5% increase on pay but ver.di argues that in fact by the end of 2009 workers would be worse off than they are today. The employers want a two-year deal with increases of 2.5% from 1 February 2008, 1.0% from 1 October 2008 and 0.5% from 1 March 2009.
