EPSU has joined with the European and global trade union confederations, ETUC and ITUC, in protests over anti-union legislation passed by the Ukrainian parliament. A major concern is law 5371, which has been attacked by the FPSU confederation for severely restricting employment protection, but other legislation also weakens workers’ rights, including law 5161 which allows the use of zero-hours contracts. The ETUC and ITUC have called on the European institutions to intervene in the light of Ukraine’s new status as an EU candidate country. EPSU has also written to the European Commission about plans to confiscate trade union property. This would include a wide range of trade union buildings that have been given over to support those displaced and affected by the war.

The vpod/SSP public services union has lodged a complaint over the right to strike with the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The case involves employees of the Neunberger Hospital who took strike action at the end of 2012 in protest at the decision of the Hospital's new owner, Genolier, to end the collective agreement and worsen employment conditions. The hospital sacked the striking workers and their dismissal was upheld by the courts despite the fact that the right to strike is in the constitution and Switzerland has also signed up to the key ILO conventions 87 and 98 on the right to
EPSU and other international trade union organisations have joined the protests against labour law reforms that would undermine worker and trade union rights. Among other negative changes, the reforms would reduce protection against dismissal, increase working time, allow for zero-hour contracts, undermine collective bargaining and weaken trade union rights' to organise. Trade unions were not involved in any consultation over the proposals and EPSU has sent a letter of protest to the government.
The GPA-djp private services union has strongly attacked the VKKJ organisation that provides care to disabled children for using an injunction to try to prevent its works councils from organising any kind of strike or protest to secure improvements in pay and conditions. The VKKJ has not signed up to the social services sector agreement and the works councils had successfully campaigned to bring pay at the organisation in line with that agreement but that's when VKKJ took the legal step.
