Three-year deal delivers 2.08% increase

The 125000 workers in private health and social care get a 2.08% pay increase this month as negotiated in the three-year agreement that was negotiated last year (EPSU Collective Bargaining News 2020 no.8). The agreement allowed for an increase of inflation plus 0.6% in January 2021 and so ensures that workers in the sector get a reasonable pay rise at a difficult time. The agreement also brought the pay rise forward to January from the normal February. It also provides for implementation of a 37-hour week from next year.

Youth workers get 8% increase in three-year deal

Netherlands

Following a long campaign and strike action in March, the FNV trade union, along with CNV and FBZ, has negotiated a new agreement covering the 30,000 workers in youth care. This includes a wage increase of 8% percent over three years and a one-off amount of 250 euros. A 2% pay rise will be backdated to January 2021 and 3% applied this year with a further 3% in 2023. There will also be scope for employees to choose when and where they work, while the mileage allowance for travel during work goes up by around a third. Three-year deal in public residential care

Spain

On 3 March the FSS-CCOO and FeSP-UGT federations signed a new three-year collective agreement covering around 300,000 workers in the public residential care sector. The agreement runs until 31 December 2025 and was secured after negotiations lasting for almost five years. It includes salary increases of 4% this year and 2.5% in both 2024 and 2025. A salary update clause means that there could be additional adjustments depending on developments in inflation. There will an hours reduction calculated on an annual basis with an 8-hour cut in 2024 and a further cut of 12 hours in 2025. Improvements

Three-year deal in hospital sector

Netherlands

Health sector unions have negotiated a new collective agreement covering 200,000 hospital employees. The agreement runs for three years from 1 March 2011 and includes the following pay increases: 1% from 1.7.11, 0.55% from 1.10.11, 1.5% from 1.7.12 and 2% from 1.7.13. The year-end bonus will also increase over the period from 6.73% to 8.33% turning it effectively into a 13th month payment. Youth pay rates will be abolished.
