The GdG-KMSfB union has secure improvements in pay and rules around working time for doctors employed by the federation of health institutions in Vienna. There will be higher starting pay and increased annual leave for new starters which the union regards as crucial to make the job more attractive. There are other changes to working time to ensure that all time at work is paid and that any time worked above normal hours is paid as overtime, on the basis of a 40-hour week.

24-hour strike by hospital doctors
Hospital doctors protested against changes to the arrangements for how they are appointed and to linking their pay to performance. The 24-hour stoppage took place from 18.30 on 11 May. The FO union is concerned about the implications of the new salary arrangements particularly with many hospitals in financial difficulty. Improved pay and hours for Red Cross workers
(August 2016) The ver.di service union has negotiated improved pay, hours and holiday entitlement in a new collective agreement covering 50000 workers employed by the German Red Cross. Pay will increase by 2.4% this month with a further rise of 2.35% in March 2017 and the pay structure agreed in the public sector for social services workers will be adopted. Emergency service workers will see a gradual reducation in weekly working hours from 48 to 45 by 2019 while those with less than 10 years' service will also see their annual leave increase from 26 to 29 days over the same period.
