The public service federations of the Cgil, Csil and Uil confederations are jointly mobilising for a national demonstration on 8 November in protest at the government's austerity measures. Over 12 federations are coming together right across the public services to challenge the government on the continuing block on collective bargaining - lasting four years and set to continue. The unions argue that there needs to be investment in workers' training and skills in order to maintain and improve the quality of services.

Unions unite in national demonstration over care
(May 2017) The four unions that organise care workers in the public (GÖD and younion) and private (vida and GPA-djp) sectors have come together to organise a national demonstration on 12 May. The key demands of the protest are for better funding for care and action to deal with the excessive workloads, stress and long working hours of many care workers. The unions want to see action to tackle staff shortages and national legislation on staffing levels.
Public and private sector unions unite in demonstration
Unions affiliated to the CGTP-IN federation are backing a national demonstration on 18 October in protest at government changes to public sector workers' rights but also its broader plans for changes to the Labour Code. The CGTP-IN federation has also attacked aggressive police tactics in the lead up to the demonstration arguing that it is part of a government strategy to intimidate and discredit the unions.
